Graham Lewis is a United States Golf Teachers Federation (USGTF) certified instructor and a member of the World Golf Teachers Federation. Graham founded the Sapelo Hammock Golf Academy and has been instructing at the Academy since 2009.
Graham began playing golf at the age of 16 at the Court House Country Club in Northern Virginia and started his high school golf team at Falls Church. He credits Ben Hogan’s illustrated book on the modern fundamentals of golf as the foundation of his understanding of the golf swing. After graduating from the University of Georgia, where he ran track as a freshmen, he and his wife, Janet, moved from Virginia to Atlanta where they raised three children and now have five grandchildren. While in Atlanta he won club championships at East Lake and Snapfinger Woods. Moving from the Atlanta area to the Georgia Coast, Graham joined the staff at Sapelo Hammock when it first opened in 1999.
Graham’s teaching philosophy is based on having fun learning the game and getting better. Every lesson includes attention to the four basics of a proper set up, (grip, posture, alignment, and ball position).
